A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from All Rivers inviting the website www.mahasriyoga.com to join its list of profiles. Never having heard of them, we checked out the website and it feels like serendipity.

All Rivers was created with the mission of promoting and supporting the universal values and teachings of the world’s religions, spiritual traditions, philosophies, and wisdom traditions.

My yoga mentors, including  sannyasins (renunciates), came from different religious traditions. One was a devout follower of Shiva.  Another is a devout Zoroastrian who also has great faith in Sai Baba of Shirdi and honors sufis. The third outstanding yogi deeply connected with St. Francis of Assisi. He also studied Buddhism and the sufi way.

Learning from all of them and having lived in many places on three continents, it is natural to hold all teachings as being equally valuable–they all come from the same source and take us to the same state. All rivers contain the same water and merge into one vast ocean where the waters of different rivers are indistinguishable.

So All Rivers is a natural fit and you can now find Mahasri Yoga, along with Esalen, Kripalu, the Vatican, Buddhist and Zen organizations, Hindu, Islam, Jewish, Sikh, Sufi,  spiritual organizations, and numerous others at www.allrivers.org.
